Sunday Mornings
Come and join us
Every Sunday · 10:30am
Whether you've been going to church for years, haven't been for a while, or have never been before, you're very welcome at Stroud Baptist Church.
Plan your visit.
What happens on a Sunday?
Our Sunday morning gathering usually lasts around an hour and a half at 10:30am. After the service you are welcome to stay and chat over a cup of tea or coffee.
There'll be:
Worship – songs and space to respond to God
Teaching from the Bible – helping us follow Jesus in everyday life
Prayer – praying together and making space for God
Community – time to meet people and have a chat
Children – activities and groups for children
You don't need to know what to do or say. Just come as you are.
What should I expect?
If you're thinking about visiting us on a Sunday, you might be wondering what it's like. Here's a little guide to help you know what to expect.
When you arrive.
You'll find our welcome team ready to greet you and help you find your way around. Whether it's finding a seat, knowing where the toilets are, or finding out what's happening for children, just ask, we're happy to help.
During the service
Our Sunday morning gathering is a chance for us to come together, worship God and explore what it means to follow Jesus.
We usually begin together as a whole church family, with songs, prayer and a welcome. Our worship includes a mixture of contemporary worship songs and more familiar hymns, led by our worship team. You don't need to know the words or feel comfortable singing straight away, you're very welcome simply to listen and join in when you want to.
There will be Bible readings and a message, helping us discover more about who God is and what the Bible means for our lives today. We also make space for prayer and response, giving us an opportunity to bring what's on our hearts and seek God together.
What about children?
Children are a really important part of our church family, and we love seeing them be themselves.
We believe Sunday is for the whole church family including our youngest members. Children are welcome to sing, join in, ask questions, move around and make a bit of noise! We don't expect them to behave like small adults.
We normally begin the morning together, giving children the opportunity to worship alongside the whole church family. Younger children can then head out to kids group, where they'll have fun, learn about the Bible and explore faith in an age-appropriate way. Parents are welcome to stay with their children if they wish to.
For children who would rather stay in the service, or for those moments when they need something to do, we have toys, puzzles, books and colouring available throughout the service.
Our hope is that every child who walks through our doors feels safe, welcome and free to be themselves.
What's it like?
Our services aren't about putting on a performance or getting everything right.
We're ordinary people coming together to worship an extraordinary God.
Some Sundays will be lively and full of singing; other moments might be quieter and reflective. There will be space to laugh, think, pray, listen and respond.
You can join in as much or as little as you'd like. There's no pressure to pray aloud, sing, come forward or do anything you're not comfortable with.
Just come, find a seat and see what Sunday at Stroud Baptist Church is like.
Stay afterwards
You're very welcome to stay after the service for tea, coffee and a chat.
Sunday isn't just about what happens during the service. We love spending time together, getting to know one another and welcoming new faces.
You don't need to know anyone already… come and say hello.
