Stephi Scott
Pastor
Stephi joined Stroud Baptist Church as Pastor in September 2026. He loves seeing people discover more of who God is and what it means to follow Jesus, and is passionate about helping people grow in faith, find their place in church and make a difference in the community around them.
He is currently studying for an MA in Practical Theology and Ministry at the London School of Theology, alongside serving at SBC.
Stephi is married to Abi and they have twin daughters, Thea and Ivy. Outside church and study, he enjoys golf and fishing… although he is considerably better at enjoying both than actually doing either.
He'd much rather have a conversation over a coffee than write a biography, so if you see him around church, come and say hello.

Our deacons help lead and serve the church alongside the Pastor. They bring different gifts and experience, helping us care for people, make decisions and work out where God is leading us.
Above all, they’re here to serve the church, support its people and help us follow Jesus together.
Cate Oxenham
I've lived in Chalford for 32 years and love Stroud and the surrounding area. I joined SBC in 2024, having previously attended Cirencester Baptist Church.
I'm semi-retired, continuing to work as an NHS critical care nurse and with Samaritan's Purse International Disaster Relief. I also volunteer with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and support Open Doors in its work with persecuted Christians worldwide.
I love gardening, walking in our beautiful countryside and eating at Falafel Mama's! I have a dear son who lives in Manchester. Please come and say hello when you're at church!

Derek Jowett
I came to Stroud in 1979 to work at the County Library and joined Stroud Baptist Church. Over the years, I’ve served in Sunday School, Bible Class and youth work, becoming a deacon in 1983 and church secretary in 2002, a role I continued until 2025. I’ve also supported worship by playing the piano and organ, and served as a lay preacher.

Born in Barnstaple, moved to Bridgwater where I met My Wife Liz, Worked in a nuclear power station but now retired, Moved to Stroud in 2016 & joined Stroud Baptist Church, I have three Daughters & three Grandchildren

Born in London, grew up in Bath, joined Navy where met Husband John, moved around a lot with the Navy, but settled in Stroud in 1974, varied job history but main career Registered Nurse, came to Stroud Baptist Church in 1983, two grown up Children & Three Grandchildren.

Mike's bio is currently awaiting publication. The author has been contacted for comment but has yet to respond. We understand the piece is still in the planning stage, with a release date now considered purely speculative.
